Description
A replacement exhaust muffler/silencer for the 1980 and 1981 Suzuki PE250 and PE400.
The one picture shows the prototype that is fitted to my racing 1981 PE250 – I have been using it for the last 14 months and I have been impressed with the snappiness and slight improvement on acceleration – no dyno testing evidence.
The fitting is straightforward as per the stock (I used a radiator hose at the join to the stock expansion exhaust – but would imagine a turbo charge silicone pipe would be better), remove the old silencer and bolt this one onto your PE. It uses both mounting bolts. The mounting wrap-around bracket can move around incase the silencer does not fit as when the PE rolled off the showroom floor. I does also mean that this silencer could be used on bikes needing a similar silencer.
The muffler comes out a little more horizontal than the stock silencer, but that is what I was going for, to look more like the RM silencers.
The casing is from brushed aluminium tube (63mm).
The inside perforated tube is stainless steel.
The ends and connector pipe are stainless steel.
Rivets are aluminium.
High temperature E-Glass packing.
Weight – 680g, including the silencer, bolts, wrap-around bracket, rubber anti-slip sheet, mounting bracket with bushes and rubbers.
Includes 2 x stainless steel bolts and nuts, mounting rubbers and bushes.
Fitment is straightforward, remove the old and bolt on the replacement Max Products silencer. The connector rubber boot and mounting bolts to the frame of the Suzuki PE are not included.
E-Glass replacement is a matter of removing the reverts from the end, and pulling the perforated tube out, wrapping the E-Glass and sliding it back in and riveting it closed with a heat silicone sealer to seal it properly.
